Marcopolo creates Marcopolo Motorhome to boost the Latin America Market
The company explores its expertise in the production of vehicles for transporting people
in a market with great growth potential in Brazil and Latin America
In line with the company’s strategy to diversify its operations in models related to the transportation of people, Marcopolo announces the creation of Marcopolo Motorhome, a division focused on the motorhome market. The objective is to explore the company’s expertise in mobility solutions, a segment with great growth potential in Brazil and Latin America.
“Over the last few years, Marcopolo has become a provider of mobility solutions. The goal is to contribute with products that, in addition to transporting, bring people together. The experience and cutting-edge technology developed over 75 years of bus manufacturing were fundamental to the creation of Marcopolo Motorhome and are an important advantage”, comments André Armaganijan, CEO of Marcopolo.
“Marcopolo Motorhome arises from the concept of related diversification, where the company explores complementary revenue lines in its core business, offering a significant competitive advantage, whether in terms of structure, technological capacity and access to different and new markets”, João Paulo Ledur, director of Strategy and Digital Transformation at Marcopolo.
Innovation and intrapreneurship
According to Alexandre Cruz, Head of Marcopolo NEXT and executive at Marcopolo Motorhome, the formation of this division is a direct result of Marcopolo NEXT’s intrapreneurship program. “We identified two major market opportunities that Marcopolo, due to its tradition, technology and expertise, is strategically positioned to supply. The first point is that, due to the lack of vehicles specifically developed and produced as motorhomes, the Brazilian market has predominantly relied on the conversion of buses, usually used ones, even though consumer demand is for a factory-designed model for this purpose,” the executive highlights.
The second, according to Cruz, is the extensive technical assistance network present in Brazil and Latin America. “Due to our history of more than 75 years, with our own network across the continent, we can provide the reliability, speed, and security that these customers want and expect during their travels.”
“We believe that Marcopolo’s direct action can boost the motorhome market in the country, which has great potential for growth and expansion. In Brazil, about four thousand vehicles are sold per year, and in Europe the production reaches 140 thousand units/year and in the United States, almost 50 thousand”, Cruz highlights.
A new product with Marcopolo´s reliability
According to Alexandre Cruz, Marcopolo Motorhome is developing a groundbreaking model that will be presented during Expo Motorhome 2024, the largest fair in Latin America dedicated to camping and caravanning enthusiasts and companies. The event will take place from November 13 to 17 at the Expotrade Convention Center in Pinhais, in the metropolitan region of Curitiba (PR).
“We have a strong and advanced engineering and design department capable of developing top-of-the-line products that meet the strictest standards. We will present a motorhome model that will introduce new concepts of construction, technological standard and safety, comfort and connectivity characteristics to the market”, the executive concludes.
According to a technical study carried out by those responsible for organizing Expo Motorhome, it is estimated that the camping and caravanning market in Brazil moved more than R$ 1.5 billion in 2023, an increase of 30% compared to the previous year.
