Driventic presents the EAC:
New electric air compressor solution for electrified commercial vehicles

At the 2026 round of the IAA Transportation fair in Hanover, Driventic will launch yet another trailblazing system solution for electric trucks and buses: the new Electric Air Compressor (EAC).
Developed for worldwide use, the EAC combines maximum energy efficiency and durability with a low noise level – setting new standards for compressed air anagement in commercial vehicles.
A comprehensive system solution for global electric mobility What’s so special about the EAC is that it is far more than just a single component. It is a complete, coordinated system solution that meets all requirements of electric commercial vehicle operation. The aim is to save resources and energy, extend operating life, and substantially reduce environmental impact.
Compared with conventional solutions, the two-stage compression process enables energy savings of up to 35% – “a crucial advantage in energy- and cost-conscious fleet management, especially for electrified commercial vehicles like trucks and buses,” stresses Jörg Auerswald, Vice President Engine Components at Driventic.

Technical highlights: Compact, powerful, future-proof
The future-proof system is based on a powerful two-stage reciprocating compressor with its own oil system and water or refrigerant cooling. It includes an integrated electric motor, silencers, oil circuit, heat exchangers and sensors in a compact enclosure.

Sources of vibration and noise are reduced to a minimum. For instance, through special mass balancing systems and targeted insulation management.

Robust design, low maintenance requirement, and low running costs the EAC, which was developed for continuous duty, also boasts a robust, modular design that significantly reduces running costs and the amount of maintenance required. The maintenance intervals of up to four years or 24,000 operating hours for trucks, and up to four years or 12,000 operating hours for buses – depending on the vehicle’s operating profile – are unparalleled in the industry.

Thanks to a stable power output even under challenging climatic and operating conditions, as well as low energy consumption, the EAC is designed for exacting applications, over both short and long distances.

High-pressure operation up to 15 bar as benchmark
No comparable product on the market offers the high-pressure operation of up to 15 bar that the EAC has realized in the electric commercial vehicle segment. This technological edge opens new areas of application and positions Driventic as a pioneer and enchmark in electrical compressed air technology for heavy-duty commercial vehicles.

“The EAC is currently undergoing several defined development phases – from prototype construction through validation to the planned start of production at the end of 2027. The first pilot customers have already registered their interest in partnering with us for the field trials, underlining the strong market potential of our trailblazing system solution for electric-powered trucks and buses,” says Auerswald.
