From 22 to 24 September, all eyes in the public road transport sector will be on IFEMA MADRID as it hosts the 16th edition of the International Bus and Coach Fair, FIAA 2026. The event will see the leading manufacturers and service providers from the global mobility ecosystem gather at an edition where advances in electrification, digitalisation and sustainability – three key pillars for the sector’s future – will be the real stars of the show.
FIAA 2026 will feature over 100 exhibiting companies and will see a 50% increase in international participation compared with the previous edition. Those interested in attending the forthcoming edition can register and purchase their pass via the official website.
Electrification and new zero-emission models
The transition to zero emissions will be a key focus of the new developments at FIAA 2026. IVECO BUS has chosen Madrid for the global launch of a new 100% battery-powered electric model, expanding the brand’s range into new, previously unchartered territory. Daimler Buses will present the first electric intercity bus with over-the-air updates, while Setra will celebrate its 75th birthday with the S516 HDH, recently named ‘Coach of the Year 2026’.
Irizar will also be attending the trade fair with some important new products. The company will unveil the platform for the 15-metre Irizar i3 electric for the first time and showcase the ietram Efficient, while cementing its commitment to the circular economy through Izir, its brand of products made from surplus production materials.
Solaris, celebrating its 30th anniversary, will present the Urbino 15 LE electric, a versatile three-axle vehicle for intercity routes. The international line-up will be rounded off by Higer Bus, which will showcase the G-BOS smart operations system.
Marcopolo is coming to FIAA 2026 to unveil its first 100% electric vehicle, the Paradiso G8, which is scheduled to launch on the European market from 2027. With this launch, the company is strengthening its position in the premium coach segment, with an offering focused on design, comfort, safety and configuration flexibility, in line with the demands of European operators.
Yutong will present its “YUTONG EV Long-life Tech” technology at FIAA 2026, featuring batteries designed to last up to 1.5 million kilometres for a 15-year useful life. The star new release will be the T14E electric coach, with an autonomous range of up to 850 km, alongside the IC12E, U13 and T12 models.
Meanwhile, Turkish manufacturer TEMSA will be exhibiting the Avenue Neo, its latest electric city bus, and the redesigned Prestij, highlighting its in-house battery development capabilities.
Propulsion, components and energy efficiency
The decarbonisation of public transport is also advancing through the development of new propulsion systems and components designed to improve energy efficiency. Here, Driventic will showcase its new generation of solutions at FIAA 2026, including the DIWANXT automatic transmission, featuring 48V mild hybrid technology, and the high-performance VEDS 1.5 electric system, capable of reaching 390 kW.
ZF will present the CeTrax 2 dual, a central electric engine integrated into a one-box solution for city buses and coaches, alongside the next-generation A134 rear axle, optimised to promote energy savings through regenerative braking.
In addition to these innovations, Autosur de Levante will be introducing a new electric traction motor and PRM access ramps. In the specialist components section, Xiamen Jiedeng will be exhibiting a patented intelligent air dehumidification system, designed to electronically remove condensation from tanks and contribute to the safety of the braking system.
Wüth Elektronik ICS will be showcasing high-voltage solutions for power distribution in electric buses, a key area for progress towards more efficient and safer vehicles that are equipped to meet the new demands of zero-emission mobility.
Intelligent safety and driver assistance
The safety of pedestrians, passengers and drivers will be another key technological focus at FIAA 2026. In this area, Winfin will present Vision360 AI, an intelligent vision solution designed to eliminate blind spots in urban environments and enhance the protection of the most vulnerable road users.
Digital vision will also take centre stage with Arcol, showcasing the eMirror Compact, a camera system optimised for minibuses that replaces conventional mirrors and helps improve the driver’s visibility.
Along the same lines, Azimut Electronics will introduce an autonomous anti-collision pedestrian alert system, capable of alerting pedestrians and drivers at blind junctions without distracting the driver. For its part, City Life (EYSaS) will introduce the EAS system, which monitors the area in front and to the side of the bus when stationary to help prevent accidents.
Innovation will also extend to the on-board experience, with solutions designed to improve accessibility, safety and passenger comfort. Masats will unveil the AIDA system, an artificial intelligence vision solution to detect whether a passenger requires special assistance to board the bus.
Digitalisation, fleet management and ticketing
Fleet digitalisation will also be a focus with connected solutions designed to optimise operations, improve efficiency and enhance the passenger experience. In this area, Cojali will present Jaltest Telematics, a tool that integrates multi-brand remote diagnostics and the Real Time Ecodriving module, designed to reduce energy consumption.
Strada will unveil STRADAworld, an AI-powered platform for tachograph monitoring and geolocation, while SINFE will launch Localiza Mi Bus, a solution that will allow passengers to track the exact location of their bus in real time.
The management suite will be rounded off by Busae’s comprehensive ITS platform; the Volcano software, already adapted to the new Electronic Administrative Control Document (DeCA); and Busmatick Group, which will showcase ModuLite, a fully modular and configurable ticketing and validation architecture. Hanover Display will also present its CANBus-compatible EG4 consoles and their centralised cloud-based management system, Hanover Cloud.
GMV will attend FIAA with its latest developments in Operations Support Systems (SAE) and ticketing, with a particular focus on ABT and EMV technologies. The company will be showcasing its ITS Suite, an advanced platform for comprehensive service management, ranging from real-time operations to data analysis, alongside a range of robust and versatile on-board devices, designed to adapt to different operating environments.
SENPTEC will present its Digital Driver’s Workplace (DWP), an electrically and automatically adjustable driver’s seat that uses biometrics to adapt the environment to the driver’s habits.
In fleet management, Movertis will introduce expert virtual assistants and AI-powered dynamic dashboards, designed to optimise vehicle performance and fuel consumption in real time.
On-board experience, comfort and premium solutions
Indcar will attend FIAA 2026 with four minibuses aimed at the urban and tourist segments, forming part of its top premium range built on Iveco and Mercedes-Benz platforms. The company will cement its commitment to versatile transport solutions with high added value, and will also take part in the event’s press conference programme.
In the luxury and customisation segment, Minibuses Iberia will present its Sprinter Verus Plus and Giro models, while StyleBus will showcase premium solutions for VIP services developed on Mercedes-Benz platforms.
Passenger comfort and thermal efficiency will be the real attractions. Eberspächer will unveil the AC135 air-conditioning platform, which uses the natural refrigerant propane (R290) to reduce environmental impact, alongside its e-connected digital platform for remote monitoring.
Turning to interior design, Alintra Systems will showcase lightweight acoustic panels made from larcore® aluminium technology, as well as removable ceilings designed to facilitate operational maintenance.
Vehicle interior efficiency will be further enhanced by Polirros, which will present Twin-Sheet thermoformed components designed to reduce vehicle weight, and by Würth Elektronik ICS, which will showcase high-voltage solutions for power distribution in electric buses.
Services, after-sales and vehicle life cycle
The Fair will also cover the complete life cycle of the bus. Fleequid positions itself as the leading European marketplace for the sale and purchase of used vehicles, offering TrustReport inspections and mechanical warranty schemes to ensure secure international transactions.
Meanwhile, JMB is introducing a new generation of ultra-fast paintwork cleaning systems, such as the DRIVE BATT WASH single-brush machine with gel batteries, capable of washing a bus in just two minutes.
Finally, to tackle staff shortages, the Chófer platform quickly connects transport companies with available professional drivers.
The event will also serve as a forum for strategic debate within the industry. The FIAA Forum will address challenges such as the energy transition, the digitalisation of fleets using AI, cybersecurity and, finally, a session dedicated to women’s leadership in the sector.
FIAA will also be a space for hands-on experiences, where visitors can test drive the latest electric, hybrid and hydrogen-powered vehicles, and see first-hand the solutions that are transforming public transport.
FIAA 2026 demonstrates that the bus is no longer just a vehicle but a connected and responsible technological platform leading the way in 21st-century mobility.
