Free trainings for commercial vehicle and caravan professionals: calibrating driver assistance systems and enhancing repair skills

Numerous camera- and radar-based driver assistance systems (ADAS – Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) are now required by law in modern commercial vehicles. For commercial vehicle professionals, they are therefore becoming an increasingly common part of everyday workshop life. Automechanika Frankfurt is offering free hands-on trainings on this topic. The professional repair of caravans and motorhomes also requires specialist know-how, which will be provided free of charge to trade visitors on all days of the fair.

In order to carry out work on camera- and radar-based driver assistance systems in modern commercial vehicles to a professional standard, both new expertise and new workshop equipment are required. To ensure commercial vehicle professionals are ready for the future and prepared for their new tasks, Automechanika Frankfurt will once again offer trainings in 2026 on the topic of ‘Radar- and camera-based driver assistance systems in workshop practice’ in the ‘Truck Competence’ workshop tent on the outdoor site F11.0 C03, directly in front of Hall 10.

Every day from 11.00 am, experienced trainers will spend around an hour and a half explaining what driver assistance systems (ADAS) are all about and why the professional adjustment and calibration of these systems is so vitally important. Using a real tractor unit, they will demonstrate live to trade visitors how these highly sensitive radar and camera sensors are checked and adjusted, what equipment is required, and how the systems must be calibrated in accordance with manufacturers’ specifications and legal requirements. During this hands-on training, participants will also have the opportunity to put the theory directly into practice. At the end of the training, each participant will receive a certificate of attendance.

Workshop expertise every quarter-hour
Immediately following the ADAS training, from 1.00 pm, there will be a whole series of practical short trainings on workshop-related topics. Topics include, among others, the diagnosis, repair, adjustment and calibration of automated manual gearboxes, as well as fault diagnosis and repair of drive shafts, and expertise relating to sealing technology in modern commercial vehicle engines. In addition, the sessions will explain how using better replacement components for vans can enhance the long-term viability of repair shops and fleets, and provide expertise on turbochargers – types of damage, causes and solutions. Further details on the programme.

Registration is possible both in advance online and directly at the trade fair at the information desk in the Truck Competence workshop tent.

Focus on caravan repairs
Automechanika Frankfurt also offers free trainings for specialist workshops that repair motorhomes and caravans. Renowned experts will introduce participants to the specifics of caravan repair, demonstrate techniques and provide practical tips – for example, on repairing textured caravan walls, painting, bonding plastic parts and calculating damage costs.

The trainings are organised in collaboration with the Central Association for Bodywork and Vehicle Technology (ZKF – Zentralverband Karosserie- und Fahrzeugtechnik) and renowned partners. They will take place on all days of the fair in the ‘Caravan Competence’ themed tent on the outdoor site F11 A41 in front of Hall 11. In addition, an expert talk on caravan repairs will take place on Wednesday at 2.30 pm and on Saturday at 2.00 pm at the Automechanika Academy in Hall 11.1. The detailed programme is available online here.
