SLATE Auto Launches Its First Electric Pickup Truck
at a Competitive price Starting Price of $24,590

Attention has recently been focused on the American startup SLATE Auto, which has unveiled its first lightweight electric pickup truck, the SLATE Truck. The vehicle is expected to be among the most affordable electric pickups available in the U.S. market and could become a strong contender in the low-cost, practical EV segment. Interestingly, the company’s name contains the same letters as the globally renowned electric vehicle manufacturer TESLA, albeit in a different order.

One of the key strengths of the Slate project is its remarkable flexibility. Buyers can gradually transform the vehicle according to their needs, whether as a traditional pickup truck, a two-row SUV with a boxy design reminiscent of the Ford Bronco, or even a Sportback-style SUV.

SLATE Pickup has Key Specifications as 201 horsepower, and Up to 240 miles (386 km) of driving range on a single charge, and also an Air conditioning as standard equipment.

Most additional features—more than 100 optional accessories and upgrades—are sold separately through an à la carte system, allowing customers to add only the equipment they need.

How Did Slate Achieve Such a Low Price?

The company’s original vision was to launch an electric pickup priced below $20,000. However, economic conditions and market changes made that target increasingly difficult to achieve.

Although expectations remained that the truck would stay within the affordable EV category, the leaked starting price of $24,590 provides a clearer picture of its likely market positioning.

Slate’s philosophy is centered on offering an electric truck with the simplest possible specifications, focusing on essential functionality rather than loading the vehicle with costly standard features.

Everything Needed for Charging Is Included

The Slate Truck comes standard with everything owners need for home charging, eliminating the need to purchase additional charging equipment.

Using the included charging cable, owners can charge the vehicle from a standard household 110-volt outlet.

For those with access to a 220–240-volt outlet—common in most Arab countries—the vehicle can be charged more quickly using Level 2 charging.

Many EV owners may also choose to purchase an optional wall-mounted charging station, which can provide additional benefits such as:

• Convenient cable storage
• Wi-Fi connectivity
• Smart charging features and enhanced charging management

This approach further supports Slate’s mission of delivering an affordable, customizable electric vehicle that allows customers to pay only for the features they truly need.
