The newly announced finalists present the technological direction of the bus and coach sectors in their shift towards more efficient mobility.
The International Bus and Coach Trade Fair, FIAA, organized by IFEMA MADRID from 22 to 24 September, will host the Sustainable Bus Awards (SBY) 2027 ceremony, following the announcement of the finalists by the award’s international jury.

Established in 2016, the Sustainable Bus Awards are the only European awards focused exclusively on sustainability in the bus and coach sector. Their broad criteria, including safety, comfort, noise reduction, innovation, recyclability and energy efficiency, make them a key benchmark for assessing real progress towards more responsible mobility.
The awards are distinguished by their independent and technical approach. They are judged by a panel of specialist journalists from European bus, coach and public transport media, and are awarded independently of manufacturers and industry associations, highlighting their credibility and neutrality in the assessment process.
The candidates are assessed using a broad methodology that goes beyond vehicle performance or market positioning. The process considers factors such as energy efficiency, safety systems, technological innovation, passenger comfort, digitalization, use of recycled materials, environmental impact and operational suitability for different transport services.
The celebration of the awards ceremony at FIAA further strengthens the link between the trade fair and one of the sector’s most respectable distinctions. The milestone also boosts IFEMA MADRID’s status as a host of an international event that supports the transformation of road passenger transport.
In line with the aims of the awards, FIAA serves as a showcase for the latest trends in sustainable mobility, bringing together the industry’s leading players paying special attention to solutions that are more efficient, better connected and environmentally accountable.
